SHEDDING THE LIGHT ON PROJECTION |
|
Uniformity Another measurement to be aware of when purchasing a projector is uniformity. This is how consistently the light on the screen is being projected. All light sources will have a “hot spot”. This is usually the center, where the element of the bulb is being most directly reflected back on to the projection surface. This is why a lumen rating is an average of nine sections of projected light. You want at least an 85% uniformity when purchasing a projector.
Here’s a quick experiment you can do to see a great example of poor uniformity:
Shine a flashlight on the wall you will notice the pattern on the wall is not dispersed 100% consistently; usually there is a small dark section in the center surrounded by a brighter section then more uniform light on the outer edge.
