SHEDDING THE LIGHT ON PROJECTION |
|
Why Does My Projector Seem To Be Dimmer Than It Use To Be?
Over time and use, the lamp in your projector wears out. Sometimes you don’t notice it right away but your projector lamp starts to loose its brightness from the very first use. There are two different types of lamps used for projectors - halogen and metal halide. While halogen lamps are less expensive they give off more of a yellowish light and do not last as long. Metal halide lamps give off a white light and should last about 2000 hours under optimal conditions.
How your projector is used will have a big impact on the lamp life you get: · Always allow your projector to cool down completely before unplugging it or putting back in its case. · Make sure the air vents on your projector are unobstructed. Most projectors have a removable air filter, remove it and blow out the dust once a month to keep optimum air flow. · Give your projector a rest when possible. Turn your projector off when it is not in use but avoid turning it on and off several times in a short amount of time. Most projectors will not allow you to turn them back on until the fan has cooled the lamp to a specific temperature.
If you notice that your projector image is dimmer than you remember, first check your contrast to make sure it is set properly. Secondly, find the lamp hours function in the menu and see how many hours you have on your lamp. You may need to replace your lamp. |
